Freelance Lead SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Architect & Integration Lead (ZZP)
Please provide motivation letter in your application
Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Architect & Integration Lead to drive the technical design and execution of our global digital transformation. In this role, you will serve as the hands-on technical authority responsible for modernizing our core landscape, migrating complex legacy setups, and establishing a scalable target architecture centered around SAP S/4HANA.
This is a deep-dive, execution-oriented technical role. Rather than managing program schedules or business strategy, you will focus on the technical mechanics: enterprise integration, middleware strategy, legacy system refactoring/data migration, cloud infrastructure readiness, and overall system performance across multi-country rollouts.
You will work closely with lead solution architects, system integrator (SI) technical leads, infrastructure engineers, and developers to ensure a clean, performant, and resilient end-to-end technical ecosystem.
Key Technical Responsibilities
1. S/4HANA Architecture & Delivery
Technical Authority: Direct S/4HANA core architecture, performance, stability, and clean-core principles.
Multi-Country Design: Lead technical design across international rollouts, handling localized tax, regulatory, and HA requirements.
Development Standards: Establish code governance and leverage SAP BTP/side-by-side extensions to minimize core ABAP customizations.
2. Integration & Middleware (MuleSoft / APIs)
Global Pipeline: Oversee enterprise integration using MuleSoft and SAP BTP.
Real-Time Data Sync: Define API contracts, event-driven architectures, and messaging queues (Kafka/RabbitMQ) connecting S/4HANA with CRM, WMS, and legacy platforms.
3. Legacy Transformation & Data
Migration Pathways: Architect technical migration strategies from legacy setups (ECC, AS400, mainframes) to S/4HANA.
Pipeline & Archiving: Oversee data migration pipelines and formulate legacy archiving, sunsetting, and decommissioning plans.
4. Infrastructure, Cloud & Security
Environment Sizing: Partner with Cloud/Infra teams on target sizing, DR, and HA across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Cutover & Readiness: Coordinate technical dry runs across environments (dev, test, prod) to guarantee cutover readiness.
Security & Compliance: Embed enterprise standards (IAM, SSO, encryption, network segmentation) across all technical layers.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
10+ years in technical IT roles, with extensive hands-on experience in SAP S/4HANA system architecture and technical execution.
Full-Stack Enterprise Ecosystem Knowledge: Deep technical expertise extending beyond SAP core into MuleSoft (API-led connectivity), cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP), database management, and network protocols.
Proven experience executing legacy system transformations, including technical data migration strategies and system cutovers.
Hands-on exposure to multi-country, multi-tier deployment architectures, managing localized technical setups, latency considerations, and international system landscapes.
Technical mastery of integration protocols (REST, SOAP, OData, RFC, microservices architecture).
Preferred / Bonus Technical CapabilitiesIndustry Domain Experience:
TOGAF Certification, SAP Certified Technology Associate, or MuleSoft Integration Architect Certification.
Technical background supporting Retail or FMCG environments (e.g., high-volume transaction processing, real-time POS integration, complex supply chain/WMS interfacing, inventory synchronization).
Core Technical Performance Metrics System performance, latency optimization, and zero un-planned downtime during cutover/go-live.
API uptime, integration payload efficiency, and error-handling automation across MuleSoft pipelines.
Data migration accuracy, validation throughput, and successful sunset of legacy infrastructure.
Adherence to "clean core" architectural metrics across all deployment regions
