Scope of Work The Client seeks an independent Interim Professional to strengthen the financial accounting framework, accelerate the month-end close cycle, and formalize financial policies for a fast-growing Dutch scale-up. The Consultant provides high-quality accounting execution and ensures audit-ready records, enabling the Client’s strategic finance functions.

Key Deliverables & Results The Consultant operates with technical and organizational autonomy to achieve the following results:

• Financial Reporting & Closing: Independent execution of the month-end close, including journals, reconciliations, and the delivery of a comprehensive reporting pack.

• Accounting Integrity: Maintenance and optimization of the General Ledger, including accruals and provisions.

• Compliance & Tax: Accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns (Dutch rules) and proactive monitoring of WKR (Werkkostenregeling) compliance.

• Process Engineering: Development and documentation of a formal Accounting Manual (policies, procedures, controls).

• Financial Modeling: Design and implementation of a scalable COGS model and a fixed asset policy (capitalization/depreciation logic).

• Audit Readiness: Ensuring all records meet external audit standards and acting as the primary technical point of contact for auditor queries.

• Operational Support: Providing expert-level support for day-to-day FinOps (PO/invoice logic) and identifying automation opportunities.

Operational Context & Interfaces

• Autonomy: The Consultant performs the activities naar eigen inzicht (at their own professional discretion) using their own expertise to reach the agreed-upon results.

• Collaboration: While the Consultant aligns on deadlines and output with the Finance Manager, there is no hierarchical relationship. The Consultant works independently alongside the Finance Operations Coordinator to ensure seamless process integration.

• Resources: The Consultant is expected to use their own professional tools and equipment unless specific security protocols require the use of Client systems.

Requirementts:

• Bachelor/Master degree (HBO/WO) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related.

• 3–6 years relevant experience in financial accounting, control or audit;

• Proven month-end close ownership and strong balance sheet accounting skills

• Strong knowledge of Dutch GAAP and VAT

• Experience with process improvements and documentation

• Background in scale-up or changing environments preferred

• Hands-on ERP experience; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.

• Advanced Excel skills; experience with payroll and expense tools is a plus.

• Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.

• Hands-on, structured, and detail-oriented

• Systems-savvy (ERP experience; NetSuite is a plus)
